The famed G.P. & J. Baker archive, comprised of a core collection of painted and printed documents, is one of the most extensive and varied archives in the world. The beautiful embroideries of the Holcott collection are partly inspired by the unique historical documents from the renowned G P & J Baker archive. Whilst some of the designs pay homage to the tradition of the Arts and Crafts movement, others reflect rare textiles collected from various points along the ancient silk route. Baker Originals expresses an authentic, creative, innovative traditional style with transitional designs, unique handwriting and innovative colour palette. The embroidery of this era with its somewhat naïve floral treatment, yet sophisticated coloring, has set decorating taste ever since. Conveying innocence, homeliness and a love of nature, embroidery has a place in every interior. Emperor's Garden is a superb collection of archival signature prints, decorative weaves and dazzling embroidered silks. With a strong Oriental influence, these historical sources have been cleverly translated by changing colour and scale into stunning designs perfect for both the classical or contemporary interior. Comora is a dynamic collection of magnificent figurative florals, contemporary damasks and stylish, tactile weaves. The Murano collection is a spectacular trio of sumptuous velvets, checks and stripes in a series of superb colours ranging from vibrant jewel shades to cool, chic neutrals. |
