Established in 1875, this wallpaper brand has risen to an almost iconic level with its fresh take on traditional paper. The Frontier Collection recreates an era of travel and discovery, in particular the culture, images and themes of the Far East.
All of the collection’s twelve designs have been sourced from Cole & Son archive, which dates back more than 300 years. Each design has been contemporized and re-coloured. Vivienne Westwood is known as a symbol of British avant-garde and for her inimitable take on British style & design and her wallpaper collection for Cole & Son are all based on signature designs from her fashion collection. Cole & Son's magnificent archive is the major source of all their new collections. Designs are carfeully selected, adapted and coloured by the design studio and printed by craftsmen to produce wallpapers faithful to the character of the original document yet contemporary in feel in this new collection. The Cole & Son tradition of stripes continues with a twist, this new collection goes back to basics and redefines the perceived notion of stripes and stunning plains to play with other designs in the collection. Culled from the Cole & Son archive of hand blocked designs, a Collection of Flowers recreates the subtle shading of the original patterns with the aid of the latest 21st century printing techniques. Sophisticated color palettes and metallic inks lend a modern sensibility to the documentary designs. The Classix II Collection is a breathtaking eclectic collection of hand screen printed, digitally printed and hand flocked wallpapers from the Cole & Son archive and studio. |
